Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes Region

Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes Region... It's Why We're Home

The RE/MAX Bayside realtors know Lakes Region real estate. For those of us who aren't from New Hampshire originally, the beauty of the Lakes Region and all the year round activities offered are what brought the rest, making us the perfect realtors to help you buy or sell your home.

Located in Meredith, New Hampshire, Lake Winnipesaukee sits right in our backyard. (Other towns bordering the lake include Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Tuftonboro, Wolfeboro, Alton, Gilford, and Laconia.)  We live, work and play in the Lakes Region, so feel free to ask us about things to do, places to dine, the school systems, and the charm each individual town has to offer.

Lake Winnipesaukee is a very popular year round, Lakes Region resort destination because of its serene beauty and size. It is the largest lake in the state of New Hampshire and is surrounded by three mountain ranges.   The water of Lake Winnipesaukee is spring-fed, and it is the sixth largest lake in the United States that lies within the boundaries of one state.   Upon visiting the lake, it is easy to see why the name "Winnipesaukee" means either "beautiful water in high place," or "smile of the Great Spirit," depending on who you ask.  It is also easy to misspell "Winnipesaukee."  It has been incorreclty spelled as "Winnepesaukee," "Winnapesakee," "Winnepasakee," "Winnepisaukee," and "Winnapisaukee."  However, the correct spelling of the lake is "Lake Winnipesaukee."

The lake is about 28 miles long, with an average depth of 40 - 45 feet, and a maximum depth of over 200 feet. Water temperatures in the height of summer are usually in the high 70's, and can reach well into the 80's if we have had a few very hot days. In the winter, Lake Winnipesaukee usually freezes in late December, with the ice usually over 18 inches thick, making ice fishing a very popular winter activity. It's hard to miss the signature New England sight of the bob houses lining the lake.

Vacationers are very interested in Lake Winnipesaukee real estate because of the year round activities the Lakes Region has to offer. Purchasing a second home in Meredith, Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Tuftonboro, Wolfeboro, Alton, Gilford or Laconia makes the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of every day life.   In the winter, imagine hopping on your snowmobile to go out to dinner, and conversely, in the summer, pull into a boat dock and stroll along the waterfront in Meredith to enjoy an ice cream and the live entertainment.

There is a reason the realtors at RE/MAX Bayside chose the Lakes Region of New Hampshire as their home. The people have a nationwide reputation for being very friendly, the air seems cleaner, and of course the majestic sight of Lake Winnipesaukee surrounded by the mountains should never be taken for granted.
